Each year, we select a group of plants from all of the varieties that we grow that are so special. These are unique and groundbreaking so we call them our "featured" plants.
What makes a plant a Monrovia “featured” plant? They are innovative selections, most often the result of superior breeding or a naturally occurring genetic variation. While breeders work to enhance the best attributes of a plant, some plants change and adapt to their environments. They develop new traits and features that help them to survive and thrive. Our featured plants heralds the best of all of this science and nature.
From solution-sized shrubs, plants that respond to a changing climate, and edibles beautiful enough to be considered ornamental. Only the most cutting edge selections make the list. Some are newer while others have an unbroken history of success. We grow more than 3,000 different varieties of remarkable plants - each a leader in their category. So to be chosen as a Monrovia "featured" plant is quite the distinction!
