What a great lesson in how to combine shades of green to bring a narrow space to life! This fuss-free mixture of boxwoods, ferns and perennials is low maintenance, but super elegant, too.
Our three favorite ideas:
- The brown hue of the window boxes brings the forest feel of the surrounding space to the house and garden.
- The scale of the two large boxwood shrubs that frame the windows and make the center garden more important.
- The trick of cladding the foundation under the window boxes with creeping fig (Ficus pumila). This is a vine that clings to surfaces via aerial rootlets creating an easy vertical wall planting.
This little space is genius!
