Why It's My Favorite:
The painted fern lends interest to the landscape from the time the delicate fiddle heads emerge in early spring to the first heavy snowfall. It can brighten a shady corner of the garden, lend elegance to a mixed planter, mingle wonderfully in a cut bouquet and does all this with little to no attention given to it during the course of the growing season. The Painted Fern lends itself to cottage gardens, Asian inspired landscapes, formal settings, and pocket specimen plantings effortlessly. I love it!
